OPERATIONAL FUNDING NEEDS

East Grand Forks Public Schools is the only district in the area that does not have a current operating levy. Across Minnesota, more than 70% of public schools currently rely on a voter-approved operating levy to supplement state aid.

The District has been fiscally responsible, with more than $1,000,000 in reductions last year, but with State aid not keeping pace with inflation it was a matter of time before the District must turn to voters for help. On November 3, East Grand Forks Public Schools will be asking voters to approve additional funding above the annual revenue limit to maintain reasonable class sizes, top-notch programming, and critical student services.

Question One on the fall ballot will aim to address these ongoing needs:

  • Maintain reasonable class sizes

  • Retain School Resource Officer Position

  • Attract and retain quality staff in a highly competitive environment

  • Maintain strong academic and extracurricular programs
